REALTORS MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The Realtor Association of Martin County would like to
introduce one of our members, Judy Alvarez, GRI. Judy has
worked as a Sales Agent for Better Homes and Gardens Laviano
& Associates for 4 years. Judy doesn’t dedicate all of her
time to the real estate profession, though. She unselfishly
devotes time to an organization called PGA of
America/Disabled Sports USA Military Golf Program.

The Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project is a partnership
between Disabled Sports USA, its chapters and the Wounded
Warrior Project, providing year-round sports programs for
severely wounded service members from the Iraq and
Afghanistan conflicts and the Global War on Terrorism.
Programs take place at sites throughout the USA offering
Wounded Warriors the chance to re-build their lives through
sports. The “Wounded Warriors” and their family members are
provided these opportunities free of charge, including
transportation, lodging, adaptive equipment and
individualized instruction in over a dozen different winter
and summer sports.
The PGA of America partnered with Disabled Sports USA and
the Department of Defense to sponsor a program for severely
wounded veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan in the game of
golf, and to utilize the game of golf as a rehabilitative
sport through physical therapy, as well as a recreational
tool.
Since 1994, Judy has been specializing in teaching golf to
the disabled and injured. In the late 1990’s, she started
training golf professionals how to teach golf to their
students. Because of her great knowledge and skill, Judy
was asked by the PGA of America to be the National PGA Golf
Military Trainer.
Being the National Trainer has allowed her to
travel to military bases and golf courses providing seminars
to train golf professionals, military golf staff, wounded
warriors and families and the medical community about
modified swings, adaptive equipment, sensitivity training
and hands on approach.
“I support this cause because each and every day I live my
life here in the USA in a safe and wonderful environment.
There are thousands of men and women who are risking their
lives each and every day to defend our country’s freedom.
The least I can do is provide resources and training so our
sport (golf) can assist the military and their families,”
said Judy.
The Realtor Association of Martin County is proud to have
Judy Alvarez as one of our REALTOR® Members.
